Nature Strip (Verge) Materials Permit

In order to use the council’s verge for storage of materials during building, a permit is required to be obtained from the city. This permit allows for the storage of certain materials for the chosen duration. Conditions of the permit are found below.

Verge Permit Conditions of Use

  1. Builder’s sand is not permitted to be stored on the verge. Sand shall be stored within the lot boundaries. Sand may be delivered to the verge but shall be immediately moved off and into the property.
  2. Mixing of mortar is not permitted on the verge at any time.
  3. Chemical toilets are not permitted on the verge at any time.
  4. Sea Containers are not permitted on the verge at any time.
  5. Building rubbish is not permitted on the verge at any time.
  6. Verge trees shall be protected from damage from any building activities by the installation of fencing or similar barriers around the trees.
  7. The Licensee shall erect hoardings, fencing and other barriers to provide safety and convenience to the public of such form, character and dimensions as necessary and to the satisfaction of the Manager Property Services.
  8. The Licensee shall maintain any hoardings, fencing and other barriers that are required, in a safe and good condition at all times to the satisfaction of the Manager Building Services.
  9. The Licensee may provide sufficient lighting every night from sunset to sunrise to any hoardings, fencing and other barriers that are required.
  10. Keep any paths clear and accessible by pedestrians at all times or seek approval from Council for an alternative access way.
