REVIEW OF LOCAL LAWS

The City of Nedlands proposes to review the following Local Laws:

Local Law Relating to Council Halls
The purpose of this local law is to provide for the regulation and control of local government buildings and property throughout the district that may be hired.
The effect of this local law is to establish a system of hall hire for local government property with which individuals wishing to hire such property must comply.

Local Law Relating to Reserves, Foreshores and Beaches
The purpose of this local law is to provide for the regulation, control and management of activities conducted on Council reserves, foreshores and beaches throughout the district.
The effect of this local law is to establish a system regulating activities on reserves, foreshores and beaches with which persons wishing to conduct such activities must observe.

Local Law Relating to Thoroughfares
The purpose of this local law is to:
(a) regulate, control and manage verge development throughout the district;
(b) establish a system for the development and construction of and the prevention of damage to crossovers, rights of way and footpaths; and
(c) regulate activities conducted on thoroughfares to ensure the amenity of the area.
The effect of this local law is to establish a system regulating activities on thoroughfares with which persons wishing to undertake development of or activities within, must observe.

Local Law Relating to Trading in Public Places
The purpose of this local law is to provide for the regulation, control and management of outdoor dining areas, street markets, amusements, street trading, and street entertainment, in any street or public place within the district.
The effect of this local law is to establish a system regulating trading in public places.

A copy of the current local laws may be inspected at or obtained from the City’s Administration Centre, 71 Stirling Hwy, Nedlands between 8.30a.m. and 5.00p.m. Monday to Friday.

Submissions about the local law review may be made to the Chief Executive Officer, City of Nedlands, PO Box 9, Nedlands 6009, no later than 5pm Friday 12 September 2014.
