At the Special Council Meeting on 20 June, Council adopted the City’s budget for the 2013/2014 financial year.

This budget was developed following the preparation of the City’s Strategic Community Plan and the Corporate Business Plan.  The plans which were prepared including consultation with the community identified that the City’s infrastructure and buildings were at the end of their lifecycle and in urgent need of renewal. This year’s budget will see the City moving towards achieving these major goals for infrastructure.

This year will see a rate increase of 4% along with a further 4% which will be allocated specifically for the renewal of the City’s Infrastructure and buildings, including an extensive capital works program, black spot projects to improve community safety and footpath renewal and development to improve community access.
