Trading in Public Places

To trade on City of Nedlands land you need to apply for approval. This is to ensure that the City can manage the sale or hire of a variety of activities in public places. These activities include food stalls, entertainers, amusement equipment, non-food stalls, etc.
Assessment of an application considers the proposed location and impact the activity may have on public safety and access, other traders, traffic flow, and established businesses close by in accordance with the City’s Local Law Relating to Trading in Public Places

Short term Trading
The City’s Administration issues Street trading licences for trade of up to three (3) days Applicants must complete a Street Trading Application form, supply any supporting documentation as requested and pay the licence application fee. The applicant must have Public Liability Insurance that specifies the City of Nedlands as an interested party. Applications must be lodged as a minimum 10 working days prior. Please contact the City’s Environmental Health Services prior to lodging your Street Trading Application.

Long Term Street Trading
An application for ongoing and regular trade, irrespective of whether it is on public or private land, must be assessed by the relevant departments at the City and then be put before Council for consideration.
