As we go into the 2024 storm season it’s important that residents ensure that they are storm ready. The best thing that residents can do to protect themselves and their property is to prepare.
Before storm season commences the City and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services recommends that residents:
- Ensure branches and trees are kept trimmed around structures and powerlines to prevent damage. If required hire a contractor to clear branches around power lines.
- Ensure gutters are clear so that they drain freely.
- Check your roofing for any loose tiles to reduce potential for leaks and risk of any flying debris.
- Have an emergency kit with essential items prepared.
- Check your home, contents and car insurance cover are in order.
- If flooding is a risk in your area check www.dfes.wa.gov.au/hazard-information/flood/prepare for information on how to best prepare.
