Be bold: nominate someone for Citizen of the Year

Do you know someone who’s done something remarkable? Or actively contributes to community life, really giving it their all?

The City of Nedlands is calling for nominations in the 2018 Australia Day WA Community Citizen of the Year Awards, designed to reward local people and groups for their contribution and participation in community life.

City of Nedlands Mayor Hipkins said he was keen to see as many nominations as possible this year, given so many people played an active role in the community.

“I’m always amazed at the amount of sheer talent, dedication and commitment when I’m out and about, whether it’s at schools, workplaces or a major community event,” he said.

“It’s important this enthusiasm for life does not go unnoticed and I’m pleased we have the Community Citizen of the Year Awards to recognise people who embrace a passion for something.

“The focus is on community contribution rather than personal achievement and I urge everyone to submit nominations, recommending people for the awards.

“There is a tremendous amount of talented people in our community who deserve to be acknowledged for their contribution, whether working solo or as part of a group and this is an ideal opportunity to put someone’s name forward.”

Nominations for a 2018 Australia Day Community Citizen of the Year Award can be made in four categories: Citizen of the Year, Citizen of the Year (Senior), Citizen of the Year (Youth) and Active Citizenship (Group or Event).

Application forms are available at the Australia Day WA Community Citizen of the Year Awards website. Nominations close 31 October.
