New CEO appointed at City of Nedlands

Mark Goodlet has been appointed new Chief Executive Officer of the City of Nedlands.

Currently CEO at the Town of Mosman Park, he was previously Director Technical Services at the City of Nedlands from 2012 to 2016.

His appointment, made at Tuesday night’s council meeting, came after a thorough search and recruitment process after CEO Greg Trevaskis announced his intention to retire earlier this year.

“Mark has considerable experience in local government as a qualified civil engineer, consultant and as an executive manager,” Mr Trevaskis said.

“He is well-known to many at the City of Nedlands and I am sure this will be a welcome return.

“Mark is not only highly experienced but has a very strong commitment to, and belief in, local government and demonstrates a good understanding of the sector and its contemporary challenges.”

Mr Goodlet’s career started with a traineeship at Main Roads WA as a design draftsman, followed by a TAFE civil engineering diploma and a civil engineering degree at Sydney’s University of Technology.

He was a consultant engineer while on a working holiday in the UK and then moved to Dunsborough to follow his “quite serious surf addiction”, also gaining his chartered engineer’s status at the same time.

Working in private firms designing and building wineries, Mr Goodlet was also Director Technical Services for the Shires of Busselton and Augusta-Margaret River and ran his own company as a consultant before taking up his first City of Nedlands role.

He also has post-graduate qualifications in business and project management.

Nedlands Mayor Max Hipkins said he, along with his fellow elected members, looked forward to working with Mr Goodlet.

“I am confident Mark will bring great enthusiasm and passion to this critical role and will guide the City through a time of great opportunity,” he said.

“I have every confidence he will channel his specialist knowledge and skills to deliver the very best outcomes for the whole community, especially given his broad  knowledge of the western suburbs and previous experience at the City of Nedlands.”

Mr Trevaskis’ final day, after six years with the City, is 11 December with Mr Goodlet scheduled to start on 5 March.

In the interim, the three directors at the City of Nedlands will alternate as Acting CEO.
