Say why you #lovemypark and win a Fitbit

The City of Nedlands is offering people the chance to win a Fitbit Charge 3 if they fill in a five-minute survey about their local parks.

As part of the City’s Public Open Space Strategy, people are encouraged to visit Your Voice Nedlands to give their thoughts on how they use their local parks, what they like about them and how they may be improved.

People can also share comments on Instagram by posting a photo of their local park and tagging @cityofnedlands and #lovemypark.

City of Nedlands CEO Mark Goodlet said the Public Open Space Strategy would help the City better plan for new and existing parks.

“It will help shape the need for green, accessible parks and reserves, based on current demand and future growth,” he said.

“The City has undertaken an audit of all of its parks to assess existing infrastructure and potential uses each one provides.

“Everyone enjoys a lark in the park, whether it’s going for a walk, playing sport, having a picnic or flying a kite and we want to make sure this continues into the future.

“Feedback on the Public Open Space Strategy will help us explore any issues raised and possibly develop new ideas that will lead to better use and quality of our parks and reserves.”

Four community open days will also give people an opportunity to discuss the strategy with the City’s planning team:

  • 4pm-7pm, 11 March, Carrington Park, Nedlands.
  • 4pm-7pm, 13 March, Mason Gardens, Dalkeith.
  • 4pm-7pm, 19 March, Dot Bennett Park, Nedlands.
  • 9am-12pm, 24 March, New Court Gardens, Mt Claremont.

Visit Your Voice Nedlands by 8 April to complete the survey.

All feedback will then be collated and developed into a report, looking at the best ways forward for the City’s parks – and the community will be given further opportunity to comment on suggested proposals.
