Coronavirus Update – 20 March 2020

As the COVID-19 environment has continued to change, it is important that the City of Nedlands continues to keep residents, rate payers and community members informed on how we are managing this situation during these challenging times.

In the interests of maintaining a safe working environment for everyone across the City we have implemented the following operational changes based on the latest information provided by Government and medical authorities:

  • Community members who have travelled in the last 14 days are not permitted to visit City facilities and should self-isolate as per Government instructions.
  • The City Administration Office and other public facilities including Libraries remain open, but we are encouraging people to refrain from face-to-face engagement.  Instead, please contact our Customer Service team on 9273 3500 or liaise with us via email wherever possible.
  • Planning Services– Planning applications can be emailed to If you require planning advice, please call our Customer Service team as we are no longer offering a face-to-face planning service at our front counter.  Meetings will be scheduled, if  possible, at a venue that ensures social distancing recommendations of 1.5 metres can be maintained.
  • Building Services – Building applications can be lodged electronically or via Dropbox.  Details on drop box can be obtained from our Customer Service team
  • City employees have been given the capacity to work remotely to ensure business continuity as this health issue continues to evolve
  • Major events have been cancelled and smaller gatherings are being held based on the latest government recommendations.
  • March Council meeting is proceeding at Adam Armstrong Pavilion but will also be live-streamed.  Members of the public should not attend if they have been overseas in the last 14 days and should only attend if they have a direct interest in an agenda item. Room density restrictions may still result in their being insufficient space in the room for you to enter.  Other matters can be raised at the meeting via a written submission or written question.  Social distancing restrictions of 2m will also be in place so room capacity at the venue will now be severely reduced.
  • Future Council meetings will be live-streamed.

The City can confirm the following services continue to operate without any impact:

  • On-line facilities continue to be available to the community via our website –
  • Waste Management Services – rubbish collections and other waste management services continue to operate as usual
  • Parks and other open spaces – these remain open but we remind people to remember social distancing recommendations by the Government when in a public area.
  • Infrastructure maintenance – business as usual
  • Capital works – business as usual

Thank you for your co-operation and patience while we continue to manage this issue for the continued wellbeing of everyone in the City.
