City of Nedlands calls for donations to the Lord Mayor’s Appeal for Tropical Cyclone Seroja

WA’s official State emergency fund, the Lord Mayor’s Distress Relief Fund(LMDRF), is now raising and coordinating monetary donations to support Western Australian communities devastated by Tropical Cyclone Seroja.

Up to 30,000 residents were effected when Seroja made landfall on 11 April as a category three storm, powered by wind gusts of up to 170 kilometres per hour.

Funds raised will be used to alleviate distress, hardship and loss experienced by individuals affected by this emergency, now and into the future.

The LMDRF Fund is operated by an independent board and donations over $2 are tax deductable. Costs of administering the fund are covered by the City of Perth, so all money raised goes directly to those in need.  On 13 April, 2021, the Lord Mayor launched the campaign with a $500,000 donation from the LMDRF Board.  Since then, the total has exceeded $3.15 million.

Please send your donation to the Seroja Appeal via the following methods:

*  Electronic Funds Transfer (EFT), or over the counter at any Bankwest branch or agency, using Bankwest BSB: 306-188 Account: 0347404

*  Credit card payments by calling (08) 9461 3886 during normal business hours

*  Cheques or money orders mailed to LMDRF, Tropical Cyclone Seroja Appeal, City of Perth, GPO Box C120, Perth WA 6839

*  Online payments at www.appealswa.org.au
