Community Grants

The City encourages groups, organisations and individuals to host community projects or events (including street parties) by offering financial support through our Community Grants Fund.

The purpose of the Community Grants Fund is to provide small grants for projects and events that contribute to community spirit and help build a more inclusive community in the City of Nedlands. The project to be funded must show a direct benefit to the local community.

The fund also aims to support the building of local relationships, networks, community interaction and the gathering and socialising of residents within their local communities. To qualify for funding, all events, except street parties, must be open to the whole community.

Eligible events and projects may include:

  • community events

The team traveled to Pilsen, Czech Republic for training camp from 20 - 29 of August. From there they travelled by bus to the tournament in Katowice, Poland and stayed there for the duration of the tournament from 31 August to 5 September, where they placed 15th in the world. Grace spoke of her experience, stating "As the youngest in the entire tournament, the experience provided me with lifelong memories, new friendships, and allowed me to be exposed to some amazing opportunities and experienced players. All costs for the tournament were self-funded, including flights, uniform, accommodation, equipment, food, tournament fees, the cost of our coaches, manager, and many more things. By receiving this grant, it made an impact to these costs, allowing me to participate in a childhood dream and to help relieve some pressure of these costs" Since then, Grace has made her debut for the Australian Women's floorball team in Singapore last December 2023, and is currently preparing to represent Australia for a third time in the upcoming U19 World Floorball World Championship in Finland this May. The competition was intense, and our team performed exceptionally well, exceeding our own expectations. Thanks to the Youth Grant, I was able to afford the plane tickets to Canberra, which played a crucial role in making this experience possible. I am incredibly grateful for the support provided by the grant, as it not only helped cover the logistical expenses but also allowed me to focus entirely on the competition. It was an unforgettable week, and I am sincerely appreciative of the opportunity it provided me".
