Volunteering

Volunteers help build a strong, compassionate and resilient community capable of meeting its own needs. The City’s services are enhanced and extended by the valuable contributions of time, skills and commitment made by volunteers.
The City of Nedlands supports volunteering through two distinct services:

  • The Nedlands Volunteer Service – recruiting and matching volunteers to valued services within the City’s organisation; and
  • The Nedlands Volunteer Resource Centre – supporting, encouraging and placing volunteers in the larger community.

Volunteering for the City of Nedlands as an Organisation

Within the City as an organisation, volunteers do necessary and meaningful work that extends services and enhances the quality of life for residents. Volunteers contribute in the following  areas: Nedlands Community Care, Nedlands Volunteer Resource Centre, Local Studies Archives, Bushcare, Nedlands Library, Tresillian Community Centre and the  Youth Advisory Council, the Access Working Group, and the Sustainable Nedlands Committee.

Benefits

The whole community benefits from volunteerism and as a volunteer you can also benefit personally. Volunteering can:

  • Expand your social network
  • Provide opportunities to learn new skills and gain work experience
  • Build confidence
  • Increase your personal satisfaction
  • Put you in contact with a potential employer.

For more information about volunteering pop into the Nedlands Volunteer Resource Centre located on the second floor floor of the Nedlands Library, 60 - 64 Stirling Highway, Nedlands.
