ADOPTION OF LOCAL LAW

City of Nedlands Dogs Local Law 2023

The City of Nedlands has resolved to adopt the City of Nedlands Dogs Local Law 2023.  The purpose of the local law is to make provisions about the confinement of dogs, control the number of dogs that can be kept on premises in the district, and to require removal of dog excreta. The effect of this local law is to extend the controls over dogs which exist under the Dog Act 1976 and Regulations.

Copies of this local law may be obtained from the City’s website at www.nedlands.wa.gov.au or by contacting the City’s office on (08) 9273 3500 between 8.30am to 5.00pm Monday to Friday.

This local law was published in the Government Gazette on 20th February 2024 and will come into effect on 5th March 2024.

City of Nedlands Dog Exercise Areas and Prohibited Areas

The City of Nedlands Council resolved at its Council Meeting held on 12 December 2023 to adopt the areas where dogs are prohibited absolutely and the areas that are dog exercise areas, pursuant to s. 31 of the Dog Act 1976.  The list is now available for viewing on the City’s website at www.nedlands.wa.gov.au/pets
