Declarations and Registers of Interest
Council members, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) and employees are expected to make decisions in the best interests of their community. To do this, they must consider each issue on its merits. Decision-making could be influenced (or perceived to be influenced) in a number of ways, including through financial relationships, personal relationships and the receipt of gifts. Section 5.75 and 5.76 of the Local Government Act 1995 sets out requirements for council members, CEOs and other employees to ensure transparency and accountability in decision-making. In addition, the City of Nedlands recognises that providing information to the public is fundamental to the principles of Section 1.3(2) of the Local Government Act 1995, where each year Council Members, CEOs and Key Management Personal (those with delegated Authority) are required to complete primary and annual returns. A list of those required to complete these is below and in the interests of transparency and accountability. The following returns can be viewed upon request at the City’s administration office at 71 Stirling Highway, or by making an appointment through the Executive Officer – (08) 9273 3500.
