Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space
The Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space is an inclusive accessible playground located on the Swan River in Nedlands. The park has been carefully built under existing trees, and covers 10,000sq m with wheelchair access throughout, a sensory garden, flying fox, climbing obstacles, slides, swings, picnic areas, water play and toilet facilities. The playground is fully fenced.
The toilet facilities include a changing places room that includes a height adjustable adult sized changing bench, a constant charging ceiling track hoist system and a shower as well as toilet facilities. This room will be accessible to holders of a MLAK key.

The Jo Wheatley All Abilities Play Space is the result of a collaboration between the City of Nedlands and the Rotary Clubs of Nedlands, Subiaco and West Perth with other partners including Inclusion WA, COLAB, Wood & Grieve Engineers, Lotterywest and Department of Communities – Disability Services. Rotary raised more than $2.6 million in capital funding to help fund the project .
The playspace was awarded the National Landscape Architecture Award in the Play Spaces Category of the 2019 Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) Awards.
Opening hours:
Open seven days from 7am – 8:30pm*.
*The park closes at 7pm in winter – from 1 June to 31 August
