Review of Wards and Representation

Published on Thursday, 27 October 2022 at 2:38:05 PM

The community is invited to participate in a review of the City of Nedlands wards and representation.

The State Government has recently announced proposed changes to the Local Government Act 1995, including that local governments the size of the City of Nedlands may have a council of up to 8 councillors plus a Mayor elected at large. The City currently has four wards, 12 councillors and a Mayor elected at large.

This will be reviewed against the following characteristics:

  • Community of interest
  • Physical and topographical features
  • Demographic trends
  • Economic factors; and
  • The ratio of councillors to electors in the various wards.

A discussion paper outlining more about this criteria and current levels of representation can be downloaded from the City’s Website nedlands.wa.gov.au/ward-review or obtained during opening hours from the City administration at 71 Stirling Hwy, Nedlands.

Submissions must be received by the City by 12 noon Tuesday 20 December 2022.
