Biography
First elected to the City of Nedlands Council in February 2008, then re-elected in October 2013, 2017 and 2021.
Councillor Kerry Smyth has a City wide strategic focus and offers her community a depth of experience in the workings of government.
Councillor Smyth is determined about shaping realistic strategic and long-term financial plans to create sustainable environmental outcomes. Councillor Smyth believes the major challenge that our City is facing is in managing our urban environment, particularly achieving a balance between a healthy lifestyle and development pressures due to population change.
She actively contributes to sensible decision making to help achieve improved outcomes for the City.
Councillor Smyth has a distinguished career in Mapping and Land information. Her public service employment spanned over 40 years in the State Government agencies for Lands, Surveys, Titles, Planning, Landgate and TAFE before becoming a successful freelance Spatial Science consultant.
Councillor Smyth spends her leisure time attending local events, giving her the opportunity to speak to community members about the issues that are important to them.
