Children and Young People

Children's Storytime

Stories, rhymes and fun craft activities are held each week during school term for children 2-5 years. Storytime is held at Mt Claremont Library at 10.30am on Thursdays and at Nedlands Library at 10.30am on Fridays.

Baby Rhyme Time

Share rhymes and songs with your baby or toddler (ages 0-2) to develop essential pre-literacy skills, giving them the start they need for a life of learning. Sessions are held 9.45am Tuesdays at Nedlands Library and 9.45am Wednesdays at Mt Claremont Library.

Pathfinder Tabletop Game

Ever wanted to try your hand at being a brave adventurer fighting to survive in a world beset by evil and magic? Pathfinder Tabletop Games are held 5.30pm-7.30pm the second Wednesday of the month at Nedlands Library. Be sure to book you place in the Libraries Events Calendar as places are limited. 

School Holiday Activities

Special events and activities are held during school holidays for primary school children. Please refer to the Libraries Event Calendar for current library school holiday activities. 


Adults Events

Subjects of Note

Information sessions covering a range of topics are held at the libraries along with opportunities to meet your favourite authors. Please refer to the Subjects of Note PDF Download at the bottom of the page.

Nedlands Library Book Clubs

The Nedlands Library Book Clubs meets at Nedlands Library once a month on Thursdays. 

Session times are: 

  • Nedlands Library afternoon Book Club meet on the second Thursday of each month 1pm - 2.15pm 
  • Nedlands Library evening Book Club meet on the third Thursday of each month 5.45pm - 7pm

The afternoon book club are currently reading:

  • January 2022 - A Woman in Arabia by Gertrude Bell
  • February 2022 - Silverview by John Le Carre

Book Club sets are available for hire if you are already a member of a book club or wish to start one. There is a non-refundable fee for the hire of the sets which are loaned for 8 weeks: 

$30 per adult set of 10 books 

$20 per junior set of 6 books


Language Conversation Groups

Practice the language of your choice with a native speaker in free conversation groups at the Nedlands and Mt Claremont Libraries. Conversation groups are aimed at people with a basic level of fluency in the language of choice, be able to hold a basic conversation and have acquired some grammar essentials as background.

English for Women Tuesday 9.30am-10.30am
Italian Thursday 10.30am-11.30am
French Friday 2pm-3pm


Mt Claremont Conversation Groups:




Spanish Wednesday 3pm-4pm
German - Beginners Thursday 1pm-2pm
German - Intermediate/Advanced Thursday 2pm-3pm
