City of Nedlands Residents divert 6 tonnes of Household Hazardous Waste

Each year City of Nedlands residents successfully divert over 6 tonnes of Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) from landfill through the City’s community recycling stations.

These stations are conveniently located at our Administration Centre and both the Nedlands and Mt Claremont Libraries.

To keep our recycling program running smoothly and ensure the safety of everyone involved, please remember: only household batteries, e-waste, globes, and printer cartridges can be placed at these stations.

Hazardous materials like car batteries, fire extinguishers, and flares require special disposal procedures.

The closest approved facility for City of Nedlands residents is the West Metro Recycling Centre (WMRC) in Shenton Park, where household hazardous waste can be disposed of free of charge.

For more information about acceptable items at the WMRC visit their website here: Accepted Items | Western Metropolitan Regional Council (wmrc.wa.gov.au)

We appreciate your cooperation and ongoing support of the City’s recycling initiative to prevent household hazardous waste from ending up in landfill!
