The City of Nedlands is preparing for a future to operate EV’s (Electric Vehicles) for our fleet. Our community has already embraced this technology as a way of travelling around our City.
To meet our requirements and community uptake of EV’s, the City of Nedlands will be installing AC type Electric Vehicle Charging Stations at four of our key operational sites. The sites include Council Administration Building, Nedlands Library, Mt Claremont Community Centre, and the City’s Depot. Installation of the bays will be jointly funded through a special State Government grant and approved City funds.
The location of the bays has been selected based on feedback from stakeholders and consideration has been given regarding accessibility, security, lighting, and safety. Three of the sites will be accessible to the public as well as our future fleet vehicles, while the Depot will be exclusively used by the City for its own fleet when vehicles are acquired.
The charging units have two ports so two vehicles can charge at any site at any time. A charging bay will be charged a fee, payable through a credit card.
Preliminary works have commenced at some sites and may include tree pruning or lighting maintenance. Full installation and commissioning is expected to be complete by late June.
The project is still finalising some matters, with more information to be made available over the coming weeks.
