Fungicide Application Notification Oct 2024

The City of Nedlands advises that during the month October 2024, the following sports grounds will be treated to control the turf disease “Brown Patch” (Rhizoctonia solani) –

  • Allen Park,
  • Swanbourne Oval,
  • Melvista Park,
  • Charles Court Reserve,
  • David Cruikshank Reserve,
  • College Park.

 

Due to the unpredictable nature of weather conditions, exact dates for spraying cannot be confirmed. Treatment will be undertaken by licensed contractors and will be monitored by City officers. In accordance with the Health (Pesticides) Regulations 2016, safety signage will used placed on site. The City asks the public not to enter onto the treatment area whilst the signage is clearly displayed. Signage shall remain in place until the treated areas have sufficiently dried. Once the turf surface has dried the signs will be removed and the public will be free to safely enter onto treated areas.

City staff in attendance during and after treatment will be able to assist the public with any questions they may have.

The products to be applied are fungicides consisting of the active ingredient:

  • 500 g/kg Penthiopyrad
  • 125 g/L Fludioxonil (only required as follow-up treatment if disease persists).

The product is to be applied in accordance with the product label as is required by state and federal laws.
