With some support from a City of Nedlands Youth Grant, local triathlete Cooper Smeulders had the opportunity to compete in the AusTriathlon Super Sprint Race Weekend, held from January 22-25 on the Gold Coast. This incredible experience enabled Cooper to develop technical skills, build personal resilience, and thrive in a high-pressure competitive environment.
Reflecting on the event, Cooper emphasised the importance of community and teamwork: "The experience was extremely valuable for all young people involved. It helped develop technical skills and resilience, and there was a strong sense of camaraderie within the WA team and with competitors from all states. It reinforced how important sport, physical activity, and teamwork are in our society."
Good on you Cooper, and congratulations to all 16 athletes in Team WA! ๐โโ๏ธ๐ช
