Mayor Fiona Argyle was delighted to join yesterday’s sod turning ceremony for the new Sail Training Centre at Nedlands Yacht Club (NYC).  Deputy Mayor Kerry Smyth and CEO Keri Shannon also attended.

Notable guests included Kate Chaney MP, Johnathon Huston MP, NYC Patron Mr Barry Court AM, and NYC Commodore, Phil Stewart.

This facility marks the beginning of a new chapter for the club, with a modern Sail Training Centre to support their future growth.  The new Sail Training Centre, being built by Pitts Design & Construction, will feature modernised facilities to support the expanding community of juniors, dinghy sailors, school groups, and sailing course participants.

The Junior and Dinghy program is one of the Club's strongest drawcards, equipping young sailors with valuable skills. This redevelopment will enable the club to offer more training courses, support experienced sailors, and pave the way for future champions in National, World, and Olympic competitions. 🌊⛵️

Anyone who might like to give some support to the project can go to the Nedlands Yacht Club page on the Australian Sports Foundation website, contributions are tax deductible.
