Artist's Statement
I still see Rosie quietly crocheting her doily as she sat with Pop, settled for the evening. Beautiful lace forms made with fine white threads and small hooks.
Artwork Description
Inspired by Rosie is a wonderful example of the artist's approach to celebrating the heritage of handmade textiles, using a combination of knitted heavy gauge wire over a metal canvas. The effect is a sculptural installation of delicate knitted patterns, paying homage to the artist’s grandmother and her own rural upbringing. The sculpture sits in the landscaped gardens of Tresillian Arts Centre.
Acquisition Details
This work was purchased by the City of Nedlands from Sculpture by the Sea, Cottesloe 2019.
