PetsWA Centralised Pet Registration - Information Sharing

The WA State Government is planning to introduce a centralised dog and cat registration system called PetsWA in 2025.
This State Government initiative has been introduced with the aim of making it easier to update your animal registration if you move to another area and will help identify potential cases of puppy farming across the State.
PetsWA was prompted by the Dog Amendment (Stop Puppy Farming) Act 2021 (WA) passed by the WA Parliament in December 2021, marking significant changes to the Dog Act 1976 (WA).
The new State based system will eventually replace local government-managed animal registers with a single, state-wide dog and cat register.
Dog and cat owners who have registered their animals with the City will automatically be included in the new system when it launches, without having to re-register their pet.
The City of Nedlands is required by the reforms to provide pet registration data to the Department of Local Government, to enable the transition to the new State system and pet registers.
